Review: STEAMCREAM*

review, steamcream, moisturizer, purpure, kitsch recommended

Last month I was approached by someone who offered me a chance to try out a product called STEAMCREAM. I had heard some really good things about STEAMCREAM before and was really interested to try it out, so of course I said yes and I am so glad I did. Before I tell you what I think, let me share with you a rundown of STEAMCREAM!

Concept

STEAMCREAM represents the latest concept in skincare. Freshly handmade using high-quality, natural ingredients that are fused together by a shot of steam. This unique method makes the cream very lightweight, providing long-lasting hydration for the face. The texture also makes it a perfect nourishing treat for your body and hands too.

STEAMCREAM is handmade in the UK and Japan with fresh, traceable ingredients. It’s super-moisturizing, sinks deep down instantly and revives your skin straight away. It makes your skin simply the best it can be, naturally.

Our beautiful, eco-friendly limited edition tins are designed by us but we do also enjoy working with other inspiring designers to spice things up.

Why Steam?

We use our unique STEAM process because it makes a naturally effective, lightweight emulsion that your skin can instantly absorb.

It’s STEAMCREAM’s unique STEAM process that makes our cream much more effective on the skin. The force of the STEAM fuses the ingredients instantly - holding them together in a very gentle and loose emulsion. When it touches your skin, the naturally moisturizing ingredients and pure, calming essential oils are released from the light emulsion so they can sink past the surface reaching the areas they are needed fast. Your skin will feel intensively moisturized and softer for longer.

By using such a simple process, we can invest in natural materials such as orange flower water, oatmeal and vegetable glycerin to hydrate your skin. Almond and jojoba oils, with moisturizing cocoa butter, soften the skin’s surface.

Ethics

We want to make excellent quality skincare available to everyone by using beautiful natural materials and reducing packaging to a minimum.

By formulating an effective face cream that's light enough to use on your body and hands, we can reduce the number of products you need to keep your skin in great condition.

We use the minimum amount of preservatives so that the skin's natural balance of flora can be protected. Low preservative levels also help STEAMCREAM to biodegrade easily.

We use materials that are produced sustainably.
All our high quality raw materials are vegan and STEAMCREAM is approved by the Vegan Society.
We use the minimum amount of preservatives so that the skin's natural balance of flora can be protected. Low preservative levels also help STEAMCREAM to biodegrade easily.
Our packaging can be recycled, but we hope that everyone will want to keep it and reuse it.
We constantly look for ways to reduce our energy use, in manufacture, transport and sales.
Where we produce STEAMCREAM in the UK, we compost all organic waste, recycle all plastic and burn all wood in our biomass boiler.
We give our business to suppliers who respect our environment, and the animals and people living in it.
We have a strict no-animal testing policy.
We will not buy from any company that tests or funds tests on animals at all, even if their tests do not involve the ingredients we use. This way, we hope to encourage suppliers to look for alternative methods.
As we grow, we want to use our buying power to drive positive change.

TL;DR

→ $20 for 75ml
→ STEAMCREAM is an amazing product that you can use as a face moisturizer as well as on your hands and body.
→ It's 100% vegan and not tested on animals!
→ Won the CEW (UK) Award for Best Everyday New Skincare and Pure Beauty Award for Best Design & Packaging.
→ STEAMCREAM is long-lasting, lightweight, and extremely moisturizing.
→ STEAMCREAM offers free shipping worldwide!
→ The tin I chose was Purpure (for anyone interested).

Ratings

→ Consistency: 9/10
(I really like that it has a thinner consistency, much like a facial moisturizer. I feel like it's easier to work into the skin and if I need to wash my hands not too long after application, I don't get that horrible slimy feeling like I do with my normal lotion.)
→ Fragrance: 4/10
(I'm actually not a fan of the scent, but I don't like lavender, oatmeal, or chamomile so it would make sense. My husband really likes it and honestly, I can look past it because I like the product so much. Plus, I'm getting used to the scent more and more each time I apply.)
→ Size of Product for the Cost: 8/10
(Normally I would want more product for $20, but I'm used to lotions that are normally found in the drugstore. I think for the quality of product and the great packaging, it is worth the money.)
→ Performance 10/10
(The product definitely held up and supported all of the company's claims.)
→ Overall Grade: A

Recommended: if you have any dry skin or dry patches on your hands and/or body, if you want an all-in-one moisturizer, if you have dry skin on your face. (I would not recommend this as a facial moisturizer if you have oily skin. I tried it out and found that it made my face greasier than it would be if I had used my regular moisturizer.)

Would I purchase this with my own money? Yes!

Some of my favorite tins that STEAMCREAM has to offer:
