→ Indie Spotlight: Cocopomme Jewellery

How long have you been doin' what you do?
Cocopomme all started about 2 years ago, although I've been making jewellery for years!

What made you want to open up shop?
I love making jewellery and I made so much I thought it would be a good idea to open up an online shop. The website launched in August 2013 and since then I have had such an amazing response. I literally cannot wipe the grin off my face when I get feedback about the jewellery!

How did you come up with your shop name?
Mmm cocopomme!!! Well I make this absolutely wicked desert which is like an upside down apple pie with chocolate sauce and a bit of orange I call it cocopomme. What better name to name my shop after than something so delicious and something I make about once a week :)

What is your all time favorite piece you've made?
My all time face piece is the sherbet lolly necklace. I LOVE it, I just think it looks so realistic, whenever I step out wearing it everyone always comments on how different it is.

If you could have another talent, what would it be?
I've always wanted to be able to sew! I set myself a new years resolution that I would make a pinafore dress this year. There's a TV show on called The Great British Sewing Bee and every time I watch it i get a pang of guilt that I haven't started it yet! But.... Every time I go to drag out the sewing machine I seem to get my jewellery kit out instead. I guess thats not a bad thing!

Do you prefer to listen to or watch something while you work?
Definitely listen to music, I cant watch anything whilst i work its way too distracting. I seem to get into a rhythm with music on.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you be?
I always wanted to be Bubbles from the Power Puff Girls, she could blow ice from her mouth to make ice rinks in the house! That would be pretty cool.

What inspires you?
I get inspired every time I go into a sweet shop, like one of those traditional sweet shops with the jars on the walls and the scales to weigh out 100grams of delicious goodness. I also get inspired from my friends. Friends are the best inspiration anyone could have!

What is your favorite medium to work with?
I love working with fimo, it's so nice to work with and really relaxing. It's amazing what can be created from that one little block.

Any advise on how or where to start a business or shop?
My advise would be to just do it!!! Whatever you do, whatever your passion, it's so easy to set up and so rewarding!! There's nothing better than people wanting to buy something you have made and put your energy into!

Spoiler alert: I adore these necklaces.

Strawberry Necklace (£8.00)
Feeling fruity! This classic strawb necklace is perfect for a cute and fun look. Featuring a realistic strawberry on a delicate chain for a juicy look.

Pendant - 5cm; Necklace – 22cm

This necklace looks like a gummy strawberry! It's great when I want to add a bit more color to my outfit, plus it's perfect for spring. I think the one tiny thing I would change is not adding a jump ring to the top of the pendant cos the strawberry doesn't always lie flat, but it's a super easy fix if it becomes bothersome. It's an awesome necklace either way!

→Overall Grade: A

Terry's Chocolate Orange Necklace (£8.00)
There's a segment for everyone now with this deliciously chocolatey chocolate orange necklace for a fully original look! Featuring a very chocolate orange segment on a delicate chain.

Pendant – 6cm; Necklace – 21.5cm

I think this might be one of my favorite necklaces. Seriously. Terry's Chocolate Oranges are like my favorite candy and Kate does an amazing job replicating the chocolate segments! I can't find anything wrong with this one. It looks so much like the real thing!

→ Overall Grade: A+

Cocopomme is a fantastic handmade jewellery company that I think everyone should check out. All of their pieces are totally adorable... Plus, they offer worldwide shipping (and free shipping within the UK)!
A few of my favorites are the Kiwi Gateaux Ring, Liquorice All Sorts Charm Bracelet (featured in the top picture), Beans on Toast Necklace, and Jammie Dodger Pearl Necklace.

Keep an eye out for an exciting interview with Kate, the talented & creative mind behind Cocopomme, coming later this week!

These photos were taken after doing a bunch of errands in 90+ degree weather and sporadic rainfall, so my hair is super wacky. Don't judge me! :3

My husband is such a trooper, taking photos of me! He's not a pro, but he gets it done and I totally appreciate it. I totally wish he would have told me that my vest had flipped on one side though in the only body shot he took, womp womp.

Now, I want to tell you about this awesome dress, guys! My first purchase from Eshakti was hit and miss, and this dress was the hit. I love how it fits me and that there are pockets... Pockets. Any dress that has pockets gets an immediate one-up on other dresses, in my opinion. Also, on the underside of the dress straps, there's a strip of fabric sewn on with a button, (I feel like that's not an accurate way to describe it at all) so you can button your bra strap to it! Oh man, I was so excited when I realized it had that feature especially since the dress straps were a bit too large, but once I hooked my bra strap up it fixed that problem. No strap-slippage for me!

I was FINALLY able to order a new camera after over a month of trying. First there was that whole QVC debacle, then I saw that Amazon couldn't ship it out here, then when I tried to order it directly from the NEX website so I could just get it shipped to my local NEX, my local NEX wasn't one of the options. Ugh. My husband and I checked at the NEX before all of this and they don't have the T5i in stock. There was the option to get one transferred from Yokosuka if that NEX had one in stock, so we filled out a form the other day and were later called to be told that they didn't carry it either. So then it took four tries on my local NEX's website, but the order finally went through! I don't think I'm going to believe it until the camera actually arrives, but once it does I will be so excited. I can finally retire my (technically, it's my husband's since he's had it for many years, but you know that whole "what's mine is yours" mindset...) super old, out of date Sony Cybershot. I might even be able to post quality photographs! I know, I know, it's nuts!
...And I can start doing videos! Hooray! Watch out, YouTube, here I come!

Anyway, that was my long rambly post. Do you guys like it when there's more than just "here's what I'm wearing and where to get it" or do you prefer my old straight and to the point OOTD posts?

Kitsch’s Caboodle Vol. 1

Now introducing to you a new installment: Kitsch's Caboodle! This is where I roundup all of the things on the internet that I think are interesting, cute, inspiring, helpful, etc. I've been wanting to do one of these for a while and I'm so glad I picked this week to start because there are some awesome things I'd like to share with you all.

Let's start off with this video:
Yeah. A kitten eating a watermelon. I feel like this shouldn't need any explanation.

The Militant Baker wrote about How To Kick Ass On A Daily Basis which I think is one of the most important things for a person to do. This lady is always so inspiring and really knows how to get me motivated and feel like a babe.

Big, Beautiful, and Bold posted an extraordinary post about F-A-T: Trampling the Taboo. I'm trying to remember how I found her blog; I think she commented on a blog that I read regularly and I followed through to her page? All I know is that she is an eloquent writer and expressed how I feel about the word "fat" beautifully!

Uh, can we talk about how much I love The Tiny Hobo? Yes? Good. First off, I actually know this babely lady in real life. What?! You're super jealous because you love her artwork? I know, you should be... I would be if I were you. Secondly, CUPCAKE QUEEN? I think I need this so I can do another version of my I Am The Cupcake Queen OOTD. Also, check out her shop and tell me you don't think that her work isn't magical, I freakin' dare you!

I'm going to end this with video dating clips from the 80s.
Yep. You're welcome.
