Countdown to Kitschmas: Holiday Movies

One of my all time favorite things to do to get into the holiday mood is to watch holiday movies! I mentioned in The 2013 Christmas Tag that my favorite Christmas film was The Nightmare Before Christmas as a kid, but as I've gotten older I've started to appreciate more holiday movies. This list is not in order of favorites, but the first four movies are the only favorites I have that are legitimate Christmas films. Keep in mind that I haven't seen a whole bunch of classic Christmas movies (like Love Actually, It's A Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story)!

The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Ref

A cat burglar is forced to take a bickering, dysfunctional family hostage on Christmas Eve. [IMDb]

The Santa Clause

When a man inadvertantly kills Santa on Christmas Eve, he finds himself magically recruited to take his place. [IMDb]

Die Hard Series

This video contains mature content & spoilers!

Red 2

In Bruges

This video contains mature content, ableism, & fat shaming.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

A murder mystery brings together a private eye, a struggling actress, and a thief masquerading as an actor. [IMDb]

Batman Returns

When a corrupt businessman and the grotesque Penguin plot to take control of Gotham City, only Batman can stop them, while the Catwoman has her own agenda. [IMDb]

Bonus Hubby Favorite!: The Muppet Christmas Carol

The Muppet characters tell their version of the classic tale of an old and bitter miser's redemption on Christmas Eve. [IMDb]

  1. My faves are a Christmas story and home alone. I finally saw die hard for the first time last week too. Loved it.

    1. I've never seen A Christmas Story or any of the Home Alone movies! I should probably get on that... XD

  2. I love In Bruges! It makes me want to visit Belgium.

    1. My dad referred me to In Bruges, like, four years ago 'cos my friend and I were planning a trip to attend a music festival in Belgium!

  3. My favourites are Muppets, Elf, Home Alone 1 & 2 and Santa Claus: the Movie.

Also, Die Hard makes me happy because, you know, Alan Rickman.

    1. Yes! He was awesome as Hans (and, ya know, every other character he's ever played)! I want to see Love Actually because of him. Haha.

  4. I still haven't seen Die Hard D: I recently watched Red but didn't get to finish the ending!! Definitely want to see Red 2.

I barely watch Christmas movies. I do remember growing up to those cartoon ones from the 60 & 70s haha

    1. Red 2 was definitely not a disappointment!

My family and I would watch those too if they were on TV. :)

I always appreciate all of your comments! Thank you so much for supporting my blog. <3
